Greece never used to be a year-round destination. The tourist season started at Easter and ended sometime in October, whenever the visitor numbers started to dwindle. Hotels and restaurants would close down and be shuttered till Easter came round again.
That has certainly changed, and the country now markets itself as a year-round destination. That said, if you go to the smaller islands in the winter you’ll certainly find your accommodation and eating options restricted.
That’s why most of us think more of doing city breaks as winter approaches, as if you do get a cold or wet spell there are plenty of indoor attractions to take in.
City breaks are about to get easier too, with Air France adding an extra daily Paris-Athens flight, and American Airlines adding a new Charlotte-Athens flight next summer. This is in addition to their existing direct Athens flights from New York, Chicago and Philadelphia.
So here are some links to pieces on our website about Greek cities you might think of for a city break, starting of course with Athens.

Good read. The Ioannina link is broken, I believe, though.
Being open year-round certainly adds more travel options. Your tip about doing winter Grecian travel was helpful.
